Review: The xx – Angels

With the follow up to xxCoexist coming in September, new single ‘Angels’ is our first glimpse of what’s to come from the London indie band. So far, things look promising. Built around a simple, haunting guitar melody, ‘Angels’ is austere trip-hop, with a gorgeous, intimate vocal, boxy drums and otherwise sparse instrumentation. Poised and understated. Nicely done.

Update: Check out the follow up single, ‘Chained’.

The xx will be touring Australia this month.
